Welcome to Burwood Heights Primary a Victorian Government-funded school located in Burwood East, Victoria approximately twenty-six kilometres from Melbourne, City Business District (CBD).
We are an exceptional school in everyway and you are invited to come and see for yourself by using the links provided. The highest possible level of teaching and learning for all students is the benchmark we set for ourselves and we are proud of the caring and supportive environment we provide to all members of our multi-cultural community - student, staff and parents alike. Enthusiastic and extremely competent teachers, classroom and specialists, focus on not only the academic progress of the students but on their well-being.
Our school’s core values of achievement, respect, honesty, sensitivity and responsibility provide the framework for everyone’s behaviour – student, parent, staff and School Council. We have a whole school approach to discipline and welfare that supports the belief that students grow and learn when they feel safe and valued at all times in an environment of mutual respect.
The curriculum reflects the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and is highly structured to address student needs, styles of learning and rate of development. We are different to most Government schools in that we have a multi-sensory approach to teaching literacy across the whole school and our students’ results speak for themselves.
The school received Accreditation for a Performance and Development Culture in 2005, which is a wonderful acknowledgement by the Department of our outstanding performance and staff commitment to on-going improvement
