To start primary school in 2026, your child will need to turn 5 years old by 30 April 2026. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.
If your child is starting Foundation (Prep) in 2026, you will be able to apply to enrol your child in a Victorian government primary school from the start of Term 2, 2025 (Tuesday 22 April 2025).
Application forms for Prep 2026 are due by Friday 25th July, 2025.
Transition sessions for Prep 2026 will occur in October and November. Dates will be provided to our families later in the school year.

Like all Victorian Government Primary Schools we must follow the priority placement policy so we will offer places to students in our school zone, students with siblings attending the school and then offer any available places to students outside our school zone, based on distance from the school. We are typically able to accept some students from outside our school zone.
If you are in our school zone and you plan for your child to attend Burwood Heights Primary School in 2026 you can submit an enrolment form and skip submitting an application form. You may only enrol in one Victorian Government School. If you are unsure which school you wish your child to attend in 2026 do not submit an enrolment form, instead submit an application form. If you are in our school zone we must offer you a place.
