Mini Olympics

A huge thank-you to all the families who joined us for the Mini Olympics, in particular those who assisted throughout the day. Thanks to all the staff for preparing students for the parade and running an event. A special thank-you to Mr Rhyder for his orgnaisation of the whole day.

The Whole School Mini Olympics started with our Opening Ceremony that included a performance from the Diamond Dance Troupe, the Parade of Nations, athletes oath, a torch relay, the arrival of Mr Olympiad and the lighting of our Mini Olympic Cauldron.

The students all took part in twenty events throughout the day ranging from egg and spoon and three-legged races, to cup stacking, balloon volleyball, bucket ball and gymnastics.

A challenge to ride a 'special' bike during break time by Mr Rhyder kept the students occupied as they rested and recharged ready to compete in more events.

The Closing Ceremony included a medal ceremony with twenty students being awarded for showing sportsmanship, skill and resilience. A performance by the Junior Choir and then a final performance by all classes of 'Under Southern Skies' saw everyone on their feet. The dousing of our Olympic Cauldron with water brought out Mini Olympics to a close.

We are all looking forward to watching our Australian Athletes compete in the Olympic Games in Paris!
