Student News
Our school decided to organize an amazing day like pyjamas day same as we had last year. Everyone had a good time. Mrs Fahey took lots of lovely pictures of students while they were having fun. We had lots of fun activities as well. We had a numeracy disco, met up with our buddies, dressed up in onesies or pyjamas and played with our friends at recess and lunch time. It was really fun and we hope to have more of these amazing days at school.

Public Speaking
Hi! I’m Nilo. A few weeks ago I gave a speech about why ‘Australia is a great place to live’. I won and I am going to represent our school at the Rotary Club of Forest Hill, Public SpeakingCompetition. I really like public speaking because it helps me to improve my confidence when I speak in public places or to other people. It is important to me because I’m a confident person when speaking and I like to give speeches on important topics that I really believe in. Giving a speech and talking to people might not be easy for everyone but for those who try to be like me here’s the tip - You need to organise your writing and speak from your heart. That is an important thing.
Mock Parliment
Last Thursday, 18th of July, ten students (Atticus, Erin, Lily, Daniel, Jack, Keith, Holly, Lachlan, Martha and Nilo) walked down to Orchard Grove Primary School to participate in a mock parliament. There were nearly 200 students from various schools in one room. Jack was lucky enough to have the role of the Government Whip who counts the votes of the government. We were trying to pass a bill, “No Homework”. Anna Burke MP, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Member of Chisholm, was there and she taught us how a real parliament runs. Surprisingly parliament is an extremely loud place where you’re not even allowed to clap. Unfortunately the opposition won and chose homework to be kept.
